Why This Record Matters
Stampede was the Doobie Brothers’ final studio album before Michael McDonald joined the group, capturing the Tom Johnston and Patrick Simmons lineup with Jeff “Skunk” Baxter taking an expanded role. Produced by Ted Templeman, it includes the band’s hit cover of the Motown song “Take Me In Your Arms” and features contributions from Bill Payne and Victor Feldman.

Collector Note
US 1975 Warner Bros. gatefold pressing manufactured at Columbia Records’ Terre Haute plant, identified by the T1 markings in the runouts. This pressing uses the Burbank labels without “Playing Time” beneath the side designations, and this copy includes the original inner sleeve.
