Why This Record Matters
Low Budget was The Kinks' 1979 studio album and became one of the band's strongest US commercial successes, reaching No. 11 on the Billboard 200. Written and produced by Ray Davies, the album includes “(Wish I Could Fly Like) Superman,” “Catch Me Now I'm Falling,” “A Gallon Of Gas” and the title track. Its harder late-1970s rock approach helped reinforce the band's American resurgence during the Arista period.
Collector Note
This is the 1979 US Arista AB 4240 Hub-Servall pressing, identified by the HUB markings in the supplied runouts. Both sides carry MASTERDISK RL, documenting Bob Ludwig's mastering for this copy, and this is the first jacket version without the track listing printed on the back. The supplied edition information identifies a generic blue inner sleeve, but an original inner sleeve has not been confirmed with this copy.
