Why This CD Matters
The Power Station brought together Robert Palmer with Duran Duran members John Taylor and Andy Taylor, Chic drummer Tony Thompson, and producer Bernard Edwards. The album produced “Some Like It Hot” and the group’s version of T. Rex’s “Bang A Gong (Get It On).” Its combination of Thompson’s prominent drums, the Taylors’ rock instrumentation, and Palmer’s vocals connected mid-1980s pop rock with the rhythm-driven production associated with Edwards and Chic.
