Why This CD Matters
Originally released in 1999, The White Stripes introduced Jack and Meg White through a stripped-down combination of Detroit garage rock, punk, blues, and rock and roll. Recorded primarily at Ghetto Recorders in Detroit, the album established the raw guitar-and-drums approach that shaped the duo’s early work. The program combines original material with interpretations of Robert Johnson’s “Stop Breaking Down,” Bob Dylan’s “One More Cup Of Coffee,” and the traditional “St. James Infirmary Blues.”

Collector Note
