Why This Record Matters
The White Stripes’ 1999 debut established the Detroit duo’s stripped-down combination of garage rock and blues, with Jack White on vocals and guitar and Meg White on drums. The album includes “The Big Three Killed My Baby,” “When I Hear My Name,” and interpretations of Robert Johnson’s “Stop Breaking Down” and Bob Dylan’s “One More Cup Of Coffee.” Jack White produced the album, which was recorded primarily at Ghetto Recorders in Detroit.

This U.S. 2022 Third Man Records reissue, catalog number TMR042, is pressed on 180-gram vinyl by Third Man Pressing and was mastered at Third Man Mastering. Bill Skibbe (WTS) is credited with lacquer cutting; this copy retains its confirmed original inner sleeve and lyric insert.
