Townes Van Zandt – Townes Van Zandt (CD, Album, Reissue, 2007, Fat Possum Records)

Why This CD Matters
Originally released in 1969, Townes Van Zandt’s self-titled third album contains some of his most enduring compositions, including “For The Sake Of The Song,” “Waitin’ ’Round To Die,” “Lungs,” and “I’ll Be Here In The Morning.” The album revisited songs from his debut alongside newly recorded material, presenting Van Zandt’s stark songwriting through producer Jim Malloy’s Nashville arrangements. It remains a central recording in the catalog of one of American folk and country music’s most influential songwriters.

Collector Note
This 2007 US Fat Possum Records reissue was issued in digipak packaging under catalog number FP1083-2. The album was recorded and mastered at Bradley’s Barn in Nashville, Tennessee, and retains Milton Glaser’s original cover design.
