Why This Record Matters
Labour Of Love established UB40’s international crossover through interpretations of reggae songs the band had grown up hearing, including “Cherry Oh Baby,” “Many Rivers To Cross,” and Neil Diamond’s “Red Red Wine.” The album became a major US seller, while “Red Red Wine” developed into one of UB40’s signature recordings.

This 1983 US A&M Records SP-6-4980 edition is the RCA Indianapolis pressing with the “I” runout identifier and barcode on the back cover. The supplied variant 3 runouts also carry Frank DeLuna’s distinctive face etching; the US release was remastered at A&M Studios by DeLuna.
