Why This Record Matters
Vienna marked Ultravox’s first studio album with Midge Ure in the lineup and established the configuration featuring Ure, Billy Currie, Chris Cross, and Warren Cann. Produced by Ultravox with Conny Plank, the album includes “Sleepwalk,” “Passing Strangers,” “All Stood Still,” and the title track “Vienna.” Its combination of synthesizers, electronic percussion, violin, guitar, and piano became central to the band’s early-1980s sound.

Collector Note
This 1980 U.S. Chrysalis CHR 1296 stereo edition is a Columbia Records Pressing Plant, Santa Maria pressing, with plating also performed at Santa Maria. The supplied runouts carry the SX plant identification and “MASTERED AT ALLEN ZENTZ L.A.,CALIF.” stamp; Chris Bellman is credited with mastering.
