Why This Tape Matters
The Shadow: The Lost Shows collects ten original radio dramas from the long-running mystery series, including the September 26, 1937 broadcast “The Death House Rescue” starring Orson Welles and Agnes Moorehead. The programs span broadcasts from 1937 through 1948 and preserve performances from the Golden Age of American radio. The collection also includes episodes featuring Bill Johnstone, Bret Morrison, and Albert Bester as The Shadow.
Collector Note
This 1998 U.S. limited-edition box set was issued by GAA Corporation and Advance Magazine Publishers under catalog number #43503. It contains five mono cassettes with individual catalog numbers #40442 through #40446, and the photographed copy visibly retains its outer box; the release was originally configured with a 56-page commemorative book.
