Why This Record Matters
Heavy Weather became Weather Report's commercial breakthrough and includes “Birdland,” one of Joe Zawinul's best-known compositions. The lineup centers on Zawinul, Wayne Shorter, Jaco Pastorius, Alex Acuña, and Manolo Badrena, with Pastorius also co-producing the album. “Teen Town” and “Havona” further showcase Pastorius's major role in the group's evolving fusion sound.
