Why This Record Matters
English Settlement marked an expansion of XTC’s sound, with Hugh Padgham producing and engineering alongside the band and “Senses Working Overtime” becoming one of their best-known songs. This original US configuration condenses the UK double album to a single LP, omitting five tracks and using a different running order.

Collector Note
This 1982 US Epic/Virgin ARE 37943 stereo edition was pressed by Columbia Records Pressing Plant, Pitman. The supplied Variant 2 Side A runout carries COLUMBIA NY and V JONZ markings, and this copy includes the original lyric and photo inner sleeve.
