Afterburner continued the streamlined, technology-driven direction ZZ Top established with Eliminator and produced the singles “Sleeping Bag,” “Stages,” “Rough Boy,” and “Velcro Fly.” The album features the classic trio of Billy Gibbons, Dusty Hill, and Frank Beard and was produced by longtime collaborator Bill Ham. Bob Ludwig and Joe Hardy are credited as engineers.

The supplied Variant 2 runouts carry MASTERDISK on both sides and RL on Side A, identifying Bob Ludwig’s lacquer cut, and this copy remains in shrink wrap.
